If you have never attended the MBGN event before, what you see on TV is an iota of how much fun the experience is. In as much as the girls where enjoying themselves, their ultimate goal would be to take the crown home. It was a short journey for some while to others; it was a day that would change their lives forever.
Cameras, light and paparazzi dominated the red carpet coupled with celebrities who graced the occasion. Movie, music, food and people from every industry graced the event from the gentlemanly presence of ever good looking Bryan Okpara to the winner of the Mother and Daughter pageant.
It was as glamorous as any red carpet would be. While people were outside striking poses for their next Instagram post, Atunda band performed in the hall. If you were walking in during their performance, you will stop and watch. Amazing.
Our beauty queens did an awesome job during their first performance, shortly Harry Songz performed. IK and Victoria did not fail to deliver.
Miss Bayelsa’s gown was everything you would ever want to wear. The classic with a modern touch gown could not stop Ik the host from raving about the gown. It was not surprising when her gown won her the best evening wear. Miss Sokoto’s costume earned he Best costume of the day. Miss Yobe took home Miss Amity; a category that contestants decide the winner. Miss photogenic was awarded to Miss Anambra. Model of the year went to Miss Kebbi. We would also not forget that swim wear session easily.
Everyone waited with bated breath as the top 15 finalists were announced; Miss Abuja, Miss Bayelsa, Miss Oyo, Miss IMO, Miss Plateau, Miss Nasarawa, Miss Lagos, Miss On do, Miss Kebbi, Midd Anambra, Miss Kwara, Miss Sokoto, Miss Abia, Miss Abia, Miss Niger, Miss Edo.
It was not just about ‘catwalk’ as we saw great performances from the baddo himself Olamide and Ara. There was a ‘mock’ pageant where IK called three ladies from the audience to show us what they got. That was fun.
The slightest thing was marked with suspense as our excitement was too great to be contained. The top 5 finalist would be announced and just like that, someone’s dream is made.
The outgoing queen Unoaku Anyadike bade us farewell. We will miss you.
Nobody likes waiting so it was a relief when the top five contestants were announced;
Miss Kebbi, Miss Oyo, Miss Plateau, Miss Sokoto and Miss… (suspense), someone from the audience shouted Miss Imo. Miss Imo seemed to have a lot of fans as she had so many people rooting for her. Miss Bayelsa was the last contestant to join the top five though and we got a lot of rants from our Live Streaming comments on Instagram.
After a question and answer segment, the winners were announced but that was after IK almost killed everyone with suspense and laughter.
Winner – Miss Kebbi
